Senegal Nexus Hub

From soil to community.

A regenerative agriculture hub in northern Senegal. It turns fertile land, smart water and local knowledge into a food system that feeds the nation and lifts the communities that farm it.

The Challenge

Senegal can feed itself. It just needs the tools.

Rising heat, falling rain

A changing climate is squeezing harvests across the region.

Only 5% of farmland is irrigated

The overwhelming majority of land depends on increasingly unreliable rainfall.

70% depend on farming

Most livelihoods rest on agriculture, yet with no access to modern tools.

Food supply outpaced

The population is growing faster than the food system can feed it.

A nation that imports its food

A farming country still buying staples it could grow at home.

Smallholders left behind

Thousands of farmers with no tools, no training and no market access.

The Approach

Where the problem ends, the project begins

01

Export Ready

Melon and watermelon already proven in European markets. Buyers confirmed, pathways open.

02

Water-Smart Technology

Water-smart irrigation produces more yield with less water, adapting to a changing climate.

03

Smallholder Empowerment

Training thousands of local farmers with modern tools, giving them real access to markets.

04

Local Production

Growing the staples Senegal imports, such as onion, potato, tomato and pepper, and keeping the value local.

The Project

The project that builds more than farms

Irrigated Land

240 hectares of irrigated land, using advanced centre-pivot systems and drip irrigation to lift agricultural productivity and water-management efficiency.

Modern Infrastructure

Greenhouses, storage facilities and agro-voltaic systems, with mechanisation that optimises crop yield, minimises post-harvest losses and streamlines local supply chains.

Collaborative Implementation

Aligned with Senegal Vision 2050 for long-term sustainability and climate resilience, while empowering the communities around it.

Creating 2,500 seasonal jobs and 35 permanent positions for local communities.

Innovation Rural Lab

We don't just grow crops. We grow communities.

Growing Together

The more smallholder farmers learn, the more they produce, strengthening their families, their communities and Senegal's food system.

Hands-On Technology

Farmers learn new agricultural technologies on the ground, not in theory: tools they can understand, afford and replicate on their own land.

Knowledge Transfer

Local representatives are trained by agronomists, then return to their communities to pass it on, creating a ripple effect of knowledge across the region.

Women's Empowerment

Women in key roles, leading training, managing cooperatives and strengthening their status in agriculture and society.

Finance Model

From foundation to value chain

Stage 01

Foundation

A public–private partnership with the Government of Senegal. Land and initial investment establish the project, with DeserTech leading impact building and design, supported by non-profit fundraising through CSR and banking partners and early-stage impact investors.

Stage 02

Scale Up

A commercial engine across production, distribution, branding and quality control, turning proven plots into a dependable, market-ready operation.

Stage 03

Commercial Value Chain

Long-term growth backed by family offices, impact funds and strategic commercial partners as the hub matures into a self-sustaining enterprise.

Turning Land into Livelihoods

A hub that grows land, skills and futures

240 hectares of opportunity, training centres that empower smallholder farmers, and 2,500 seasonal plus 35 permanent jobs for the communities who call this land home.
